Returns, exchanges, or mix ups, there could be a time when returning a product or item is upon us. I would like to stress how important it is to package it correctly in the event this happens.
In 7 years, I have had to file 5 or less claims with UPS because of the packing being incorrect or not enough. That is over estimated 12,500 packages. One of the biggest challenges is to pass that onto others so they can understand it better.
If you can picture your mom's fine china in a suitcase and the baggage claim guys get a hold of it, how would you want the china packaged? The saying around here, 'Like Baby Jesus"! Each individual part gets wrapped up to the extreme, then the next one and then the next, ensure that if the box, or luggage was thrown, it could with stand the punishment. I hope this analogy paints a good picture.
Over the last 7 years, I have averaged about 2-4 returns a year. Of the returns, half of them are not packaged correctly. Here are some examples;
This is what it should look like;
When packaging, make sure sharp objects are away from things that could cause damage. If they are sharp, wrap them up in something that will soften the blow. Void in the shipping box should be filled with new paper, 100 dollars bills, ok, just kidding, or something similar. Shake the box. Did you see or hear anything moving? More than likely, it's good. Here is a video of the last shipment we got back. Over $200 lost due to improper packaging.
