I've been waiting for this day for over 30 years now.  Pete, your fantastic to work with.  I appreciate you taking a peek under my Ol' Girl's skirts!   I say what better to have a late model chassis under an early Ragtop Split?  It's when you transform your ride with those AirKewld products.   I started my order with a lowered front beam, then had it narrowed 4" - Maybe  oneday we'll have to install the air ride goodies.  I couldn't stop there ....  no sir.   Those Porsche punched Boyd's Billets deserved to be mounted to a showplace hub and rotor.  I got hubs and discs for the front and the rear.  Yeah its alot of work to get this all installed but doing it yourself is at least half the fun ...  right?  Your Right!  Ya need a little help from your friends.

I for one am Proud to be inline for a complete front beam kit!  I think Pete's working on the 17th before mine....6 to 8 weeks out.   Quality like this never comes off the shelf!  Limited quantities keep the quality high.  My 1952 is going to be sweet once its AirKewld!   Oh yeah did I mention the 8" Airkewld window decals I bought to go in the rear side windows?   I'll wear them with Pride!

Pete,

It was great to speak to you earlier today.  I appreciate your offer for assisting me in determining what my 52 has under her.  All my photos total over 40 megs so I desided not to email them to you.

Well my friends here we are at the begining of our journey. I recently found a 1952 Split Window Ragtop with alot of potential. The Ol' Girl in years past has been jacked up for gliding accross the sand dunes. I plan to take her from the lofty position she's currently in to a sweet Air Kewld Classic that the purist will sure to hate. Here she is before the transformation begins. Wish us both luck in making the vision a reality!

I never really realized what kind of sweet tooth I have until I started checking out all the Airkewld parts for my ride.   I may need some novacaine to get my sweet tooth inline but until then I put a few things in my cart today and like most of you I'm trying to figure out if I got the right stuff.  I really dig the way this site is setup.  There is enough information along with the parts to figure out most everything especially if your a Airkewld Freak like most of my friends are.  I'm more of a novice with alot of tools and burning desire to make my life long dream a reality.

I went ahead and selected the Complete Front Lowering Kit.  I got the 4" beam cause I may want to do that way kewl air suspension some day.  I've also been looking at a few other weld in pieces to make the shocks work better and the car to handle better.  For less than a couple of hundred more bucks it looks like a really nice deal, if I could only weld.   Looks like my partners at Germantoyz.com will have to step in and save me from screwed up weld job.

As for the brakes, you know I won't be able to pass those up.  I selected the front and rear kits.  I'm planning on getting the Porsche wheel pattern to go with the Boyds Billet Wheels I found the other day.  I've already got front disc breaks but they're not those bitch'in Airkewld kind.  I haven't really desided if I'm going to get the front discs since I already have some.  But I was thinking of going ahead and replacing the ones I have with the Airkewld kind.

In the breaking Dept what I really think I need/want is a matching set of Porsche Brembo caliphers mounted to an airkewld rotor.   And I'm not sure what kind of axle I have on the Ol'Girl, since the front end and rear end have been gutted out and rebuilt several times over the past 10 years or so.

It looks like a call to the Airkewld staff is order to discuss several of the options above.  Hell, I was thinking I might roll up to Surprise and meet them all in person.  I bet they could look my ol 52 over and make damn sure I'm getting the right stuff.

Here's a few more pictures of the Ol'Girl below....I hope you enjoy them and my ramblings above!

The current project in the shed ( 6 years now )is a 65 type 3 notch. It was a one owner 53000 miles that would probably start with a cup of juice pour down its throat,Hah ! seized solid so it sat for ever. After 2 more offspring came alittle more inspiration and a new better paying careea. So i shipped it off to 1 of adelaides best vw men and it sat for another 12 months til enough $$$ were handed over(and over & over)and they decided to do some work.now days she has late model disc's up front & rear disc,s from Aust supplier(i fitted them)Shortened rear axles, new shocks.the susspension has been set 3 splines lower and rides like a bitch, wheels set the look of any car, wrong ones and you have killed what could have been,so after lots of trials including centerline autodrags & convo pro's,weld wheels ect I decided on a local import,Speedy Malibu 17x7,a classic 5 spoke triple chromed set to match bumpers and all other shiny things external. The interior was mint so it stays with the addition of an Empi shifter @ Empi GT wooden steering wheel found at the good ol swap meet,5" monster tach @ a sony cd player with 1000watts subby. The engine got rebuilt to a 1600,it goes ok but I want bigger cc's ,aturbo & injection to finish off.The bodys good but new paint starts next week in nice original tones with Empi GT striping that finishes off in flame ending,I'll post some snaps soon.

With the desire to go faster I sold Silver Bugget and set out on a quest to build a competitive chassis car to run in the PRA Pro Mod class.

Buying the donor car for Gavin Baker out of Kentucky the process began.
