You have disc brakes already but you want a PRObuilt Beam? This guide will help all whom want to utilize their existing disc brakes on their new PRObuilt Beam
For the PRObuilt line of beams to work with most of our clients, the PRO's had to devise a plan for the #AirkewldArmy, that's you, to utilize your disc brakes, should you already have the investment.
Small 5 lug (Porsche 5x130mm, Chevy 5x4.75, Ford 5x4.50 or Toyota 5x114.3) and 4x130 (OEM Late Model Ghia's and Beetle's) If you have disc brakes in one of these bolt patterns, then 999/1000, you have a Karmann Ghia (KG) caliper or an OEM-style replacement caliper that looks, fits, and works like the KG caliper. For these applications, you will select either DISC Drop Spindle if you want to lower the vehicle or Stock Height Disc Spindle to keep it higher when going through the options when purchasing your PRObuilt Beam. (Side note; If you are going with the stock height spindles, you must let us know what size wrench you have on your current beam on the outer tie rod end. If you have a 17mm, we will need to supply a 1966-1968 spindle; if you have a 19mm, we will need to provide a 1969 and later spindle. This information will allow you to install your brakes onto your NEW PRObuilt Beam flawlessly.) Wide 5x205mm equipped Classic Volkswagen The PRO's are going to guide you through this process. Hopefully, it makes sense. Stock Height If you are keeping the vehicle equipped with stock spindles, selecting stock spindles in the options will allow you to use your current disc brakes and the caliper brackets are supplied with your existing kit. If you want to update to a drop spindle, you will need to update your disc brake kit from the vendor you originally purchased it from, as the calipers they use are proprietary to their disc brake kit. You must buy their new drop spindle disc brake kit with integrated caliper mounts. Once you have those new spindles, you must ship them to us here, and the PRO's can powder coat and install them onto your NEW PRObuilt Beam. The PRO's will then rebate the order $145.00 and confirm that via email. Or you invest in an American Disc Brake kit, as our GEN 2 BAD Series Disc Brakes are found here, and select DRUM Drop Spindles or Stock Height Drum Spindles so these kits will bolt on. Drop Spindle Equipped If you have a Drop Spindle equipped set of disc brakes, the PRO's will need your spindles. You must ship them to us here, and the PRO's can powder coat and install them onto your NEW PRObuilt Beam. The PRO's will then rebate the order $145.00 and confirm that via email. Or you invest in an American Disc Brake kit, as our GEN 2 BAD Series Disc Brakes are found here, and select DRUM Drop Spindles or Stock Height Drum Spindles so these kits will bolt on.
