How To
FAQ
Q: Do I need to modify my vehicle’s body to install the PRObuilt Beam?
A: No body modifications are required! The PRObuilt Beam is designed to fit directly into your existing setup. The inside dimension is 29 13/16", giving you just 1/16" of clearance on each side—so it's a clean, easy install without any cutting or welding. It's truly a bolt-in solution, saving you time and hassle.
Q: How is the beam narrowed by 4 inches when there’s only 1/2 inch on each side of my stock beam?
A: Great question! To achieve the 4-inch narrowing, we strategically use the outer ends of the tubes and gusset outward, which gives us the additional space needed. This technique maintains structural integrity while providing the track width and versatility you need. For a deeper understanding, check out our explainer video here where we walk you through the process.
Q: Do I need to send in a core?
A: No. However, the PRO's would love to get your old beam's components. This means we can not take the entire beam assembly back and requires some disassembly. The arms, spindle assemblies and steering box assembly to be specific. If we can get those in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, you can use the supplied return label to affix to the bucket and drop it off at a UPS Store near you. To locate one near you, click here. If you do all of this, a rebate of $200.00 will be applied to your account in a refund once we receive it.
Q: Will I need anything in addition to this assembly?
A: Yes. If you want to control the ride height from inside the vehicle, we recommend the 2 valve air management system if you are just running air ride up front or a 4 valve air management if you are doing front and rear.
Q: Is welding required for the rear kit?
A: Yes. The rear kits require welding
Q: Does the body need to come off to install the air ride?
A: To do it right, yes. If you have a pit or lift, it can make it easier but the PRO's recommend to remove the body, it should only take 1-2 hours to make that happen and the ease of installation triples.
Q: Can the heaters still work with the air ride kit installed?
A: Simple answer, No. If you are fabrication friendly, you can make it work.
Q: What kind of time would it take to install the rear kit on my VW?
A: 8 hours.
Q: Will this kit work with 6 volt?
A: No, it must be 12 volt.
Q: Can I use one valve to lift the front and another to lift the rear?
A: You could, but when you go around a corner, the air will transfer from left to right or right to left like grandma's old Lincoln Continental. Using one valve per wheel is comparable to a pneumatic sway bar being installed.
