The PRO’s Recommendations
-
Remove the body for ease of installation—trust us, it’s significantly easier. While possible with a pit or lift, body-off installation ensures proper fitment and welding access.
-
Welding is required. We recommend a certified welder using a 220-amp machine for proper penetration. (TIG or stick is acceptable; 110-amp welders are not sufficient.)
-
If you plan to run heater boxes, slight modification and rerouting of the tubes will be necessary.
-
For pre-1958 models with split transaxles or parallel spring plate castings, upgrade to 1959–1965 end castings for compatibility.
Installation Guidance
-
If funds allow, have a trained technician or one of our recommended installers complete the job.
-
Skilled DIY mechanics with the right tools can install this kit, but professional inspection afterward is advised.
-
Estimated installation time: varies depending on equipment access (body-off strongly recommended).
Tech Tip
Proper shock geometry and bracket alignment will ensure maximum performance from your air ride system. Cutting corners on welding or setup will compromise safety and ride quality.
