Why choose BAD Series Disc Brakes?

Classic Volkswagens weren’t built for today’s highways. The stopping distances simply aren’t enough for modern traffic. The BAD Series Disc Brake Kit brings your VW up to today’s safety standards with American-made quality that’s engineered to last.

Our Gen 2 BAD Series rotors are built in three pieces (hub, bolt pattern, rotor) so you can swap bolt patterns without replacing the whole assembly. Pair them with the right calipers, brackets, and stainless steel hoses, and you have one of the most complete, reliable kits on the market.

FAQ

Q: Does this kit add track width?
A: No.

Q: Will my wheels fit over your grease cap?
A: Yes & No. Depending on the wheels, there is a ton of them, the front grease caps could interfere with the center caps. Best advice I can give you is before you install the brake kit, install the cap onto the rotor, and with the wheel face down, place the rotor into the wheel. If it clears, you can install the brake kit. If it doesn't, you need our shallow caps. Please contact us here, and we will initiate a swap with you.

Q: What size and length are your studs?
A: 14mm x 1.50 - 1.500" in length. We do have 12mm x 1.50 studs available that will fit into the same bolt pattern we supply you. Press out and press in. You can find out what studs are recommended for your application here.

Q: Why do you make the studs so long?
A: Fitment of wheels on your ride is personal. Versatility is the answer. If you want a wheel to fit the way you envision, it might require a spacer or two. Airkewld will be offer wheel spacers in various widths. There might be a unique lug nut you want to use and the studs is too long. Trim it up to make it work for your application.

Q: My brakes are squealing, how can I resolve this?
A: In our supplied install guide, there is a section on bedding in the rotors. If you bed in the rotors correctly, noises will be non-existent. If you don't get it the first time, scuff the rotors where the pads touch along with the pad surface, clean it with brake clean and do the process again until you get it right. Simple process really.

Q: I want to change out my bolt pattern, how can I do that?
A: Your install guide will go over the process in detail. It will require you to break loose the allen bolts attaching the bolt pattern to the hub assembly, and installing the new one and torquing it down correctly.
