Privacy Policy

The short version Airkewld designs and builds classic Volkswagen drive-trains for clients around the world. We collect the information we need to talk with you, build your project, take payment, and ship your order. We never sell your data, and we never share it with third parties for their own marketing without your consent. You can opt out of marketing emails, SMS, and targeted advertising at any time.

Airkewld ("Airkewld," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.

This Policy applies to information we collect through our website (the "Site"), through email, text messages, phone calls, our build inquiry forms, and during the purchase, design, fabrication, and delivery of our products and services (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

Airkewld is the "data controller" responsible for your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information you provide to us

  • Identity and contact information: name, email address, phone number, shipping address, billing address.
  • Build inquiry information: details about your vehicle (year, model, VIN, photographs), build specifications, performance goals, budget, timeline, and any technical preferences you share.
  • Communications: messages, emails, texts, voicemails, and any information you provide when you contact us, including support requests.
  • Order information: items purchased, quantities, prices, order history.
  • Payment information: payment card details and billing information are collected and processed directly by our payment processors, Stripe and PayPal. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
  • Marketing preferences: your subscription status for email newsletters and SMS messages.
  • Account information: if you create an account, your username and password (stored as a salted hash).

b) Information we collect automatically

When you visit our Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device and use of the Site, including:

  • Device and connection information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language preferences, time zone.
  • Usage information: pages viewed, links clicked, referring URLs, search terms, dates and times of access, duration of visit, products viewed.
  • Cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies. See Section 4 below.

c) Information from third parties

  • Payment processors: Stripe and PayPal provide us confirmation of transactions and limited billing information.
  • Shipping and freight carriers: tracking and delivery confirmation.
  • Analytics and advertising partners: aggregated and pseudonymous data about Site usage and ad performance.
  • Social media platforms: if you interact with us on social media, we may receive information you have made public.
  • Service providers: our hosting, email, and SMS providers may share technical information related to your use of those services.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal information (such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information, biometric data, or sexual orientation). Please do not submit this information to us.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide our Services: process orders, prepare quotes for custom builds, design and fabricate drive-trains, ship products, and deliver post-sale support.
  • To communicate with you: respond to inquiries, send order confirmations, provide build updates, schedule consultations, and provide customer service.
  • For marketing: with your consent, send email newsletters and SMS messages about new builds, parts, events, and promotions. You may opt out at any time (see Section 8).
  • For targeted advertising: show advertisements about Airkewld on third-party platforms based on your interests, where you have consented. You may toggle this on or off at any time using our Cookie Preferences tool.
  • For Site improvement: analyze how visitors use the Site, troubleshoot issues, develop new features, and improve user experience.
  • For security and fraud prevention: detect and prevent fraudulent transactions, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • For legal compliance: comply with applicable laws, court orders, and lawful requests; enforce our terms; protect our rights, property, and safety, and those of our customers and the public.

Legal bases (for residents of the EEA, UK, and Switzerland): we process your information based on your consent (for marketing and certain cookies), the performance of a contract with you (to fulfill your build or order), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve our business), and to comply with our legal obligations.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, analyze usage, and deliver advertising. We use the following categories:

  • Essential: required for the Site and your requested services to work. These cannot be disabled.
  • Functional: enable enhanced features such as embedded videos and live chat.
  • Analytics: help us understand how visitors interact with the Site so we can improve it.
  • Targeting and Advertising: build a profile of your interests so we can show you relevant ads.

You can manage your preferences at any time using our Website Data Collection Preferences tool, available from the cookie banner and from the Privacy section of our Site footer. You may also control cookies through your browser settings.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information for residents of states that recognize this signal.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.

We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf: payment processors (Stripe, PayPal), shipping and freight carriers, web hosting and IT providers, email and SMS delivery vendors, customer support tools, analytics providers, and advertising partners (only when you have enabled targeting cookies). These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information and use it only as we direct.
  • With your consent or at your direction: when you ask us to share information for a specific purpose (e.g., shipping a vehicle to a third-party shop you select).
  • Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, court order, or government request, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Airkewld, our customers, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business, with appropriate confidentiality obligations.

6. International Data Transfers

Airkewld is located in the United States, and we serve clients worldwide. If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

When we transfer personal data from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland to the United States or other countries that have not received an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

7. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specifically:

  • Order and build records: up to seven (7) years to comply with tax, warranty, and accounting requirements.
  • Marketing contact data: until you unsubscribe, plus a short administrative period.
  • Cookies and analytics data: for the period stated in our cookie tool, generally between thirty (30) days and twenty-six (26) months.
  • Inquiry forms with no follow-up purchase: up to twenty-four (24) months.

When we no longer need your information, we will delete or de-identify it.

8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to know / access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to correct: ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Right to delete: ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to portability: receive your personal information in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising.
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • Right to withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
  • Right to object or restrict processing in certain circumstances under the GDPR.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

How to exercise your rights

Email us at pete@airkewld.com with the subject line Privacy Request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days). We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to verification.

Marketing opt-outs

  • Email: click "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email.
  • SMS: reply STOP to any marketing text. Standard message and data rates may apply.
  • Targeted advertising cookies: use our Website Data Collection Preferences tool to set Targeting/Advertising to "No."

9. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, in addition to the rights above, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act.

Categories of personal information we have collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); customer records (billing/shipping address, payment information processed by our processors); commercial information (purchase history); internet/network activity (browsing, cookies); approximate geolocation (from IP); and inferences drawn from the above.

Sources, purposes, and recipients of these categories are described in Sections 2, 3, and 5.

Sale and sharing: We do not sell personal information for monetary value. We do "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising when you have enabled Targeting/Advertising cookies. You may opt out at any time using our cookie preferences tool, by clicking Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in our footer, or by enabling the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.

Sensitive personal information: we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require offering a "limit" right under California law.

10. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Maryland, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have rights similar to those described above. Submit requests using the contact information in Section 15. You may appeal a denial of your request by replying to our denial notice; if your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, hosting with reputable providers, and least-privilege access for employees and contractors. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

12. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies before providing any information.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and, where required by law, provide additional notice (such as an email or a banner on the Site). Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any change means you accept the updated Policy.
