Before you ship: how engines work in our process
Airkewld doesn't sell, install, or store engines. Send your chassis as a roller — assembled, on its wheels, with the engine removed. We need to see it assembled to inspect for issues we'll address during the build. Once your chassis is delivered, you install your engine yourself.

Questions people ask before they reserve
Either works. Send us yours, have us arrange pickup, or have us supply a powder-coated titled chassis at checkout (+$5,995).
All years of the Standard Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 181 Thing, and Fridolin. We don't build on Type 2 (Bus), Type 3, or Super Beetle pans.
Rust we can fix — repair panels are kept in stock and rust repair is part of every chassis build. Wrecked or twisted chassis we can't save. Not sure about yours? Send us a photo of your pan before you reserve and we'll tell you straight.
Yes. We have RoadRunners on standby for pickup. Budget up to $2,500 each direction — whatever isn't used is refunded back to you.
Send it as a roller — assembled, on its wheels, with the engine removed. We need to see your chassis assembled to identify issues we'll address during the build. Don't disassemble it or ship just a bare pan.
Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay, and PayPal Pay Later. For qualified buyers at Affirm's best promotional rate, the full build starts around $917/mo. Pre-qualification is a soft credit check — it doesn't affect your score. You can check your actual rate at checkout.
Roughly 15 weeks from reservation to delivery, on average. Drivetrain build starts immediately when you reserve (~8 weeks). Chassis build follows (~7 weeks). Timelines can shift based on chassis condition and configuration.
The build covers transaxle, suspension, brakes, rust repair, and the PRO labor. Not included: engine (Airkewld doesn't sell, install, or store engines — bring your own, install yourself after delivery), wheels, pedals, battery, shifter. Available as add-ons: seat belt anchors, fuel systems, Line-X sound deadening, and more.
For chassis builds we don't issue a formal warranty — instead, every customer becomes part of the Airkewld family for life. We stand behind our work and we're here when you need us. Standard wear-and-tear items aren't covered. (Our standard 90-day guarantee covers everything else we sell through the site.)
Yes — by appointment. The shop's in Goodyear, AZ.
You get a 30-day grace window — no late fees. If you need to cancel altogether, we'll ship your completed drivetrain package to you at no extra cost. Your money never disappears.
