Step 2: Buying a Classic VW – Paperwork Matters
You’ve done the research. You know what kind of build you want, what parts are available, and you’ve got a plan. Now it’s time to find your project car.
Here’s some real talk that could save you major headaches down the road:
Let’s say you’re hunting for a 1966 or 1967 Beetle. Before you get caught up in the “deal,” check that the VIN on the chassis matches the title (aka Pink Slip). If it doesn’t match—walk away.
No matter how good the price is, don’t buy a project with just a bill of sale or mismatched paperwork. It’s not worth the DMV drama, legal limbo, or the sinking feeling of owning a car you might never be able to register.
Bottom line: Clean paperwork = peace of mind. Make it non-negotiable.
